Individual Therapy
Are you feeling like you’re put-together on the outside, and at the same time often feel anxious or insecure on the inside? Or like you’ve had to spend a lot of time and energy people pleasing or being tuned into others’ needs? Do you wish you could show up honestly as your full self?
You might be wanting:
Relief from your anxious feelings and thoughts
Relief from a strong inner critic
To explore your own needs, wants, and feelings after a long time of not having the space to do that
To trust yourself and your boundaries
Relief from doing so much of the emotional labor in relationships
To have emotional safety in your relationships
To take up more space, and also scared to take up more space
To be your honest self in the relationships in your life
Therapy will include:
Empathy: Your experiences and perspectives matter and are valid. It’s important to me to understand your experience and bring compassion for your feelings and needs.
Your pace: While I’ll hold the “container” of the therapy space, I’ll follow your lead about what you want to explore, when, and how.
Collaboration: You don’t have to figure it all out alone. I’m here to to be with you. I believe you’re the expert on you, and simultaneously I’m fully here to bring my knowledge and learning to support you.
Mind-body connection: The mind and body often influence each other, and I believe uncovering the connection between them can often help us feel more connected to ourselves overall. (Although for some of us, connecting to our bodies does not feel supportive. As with all other parts of our work, this type of exploration is optional and based on your needs).
The larger context: I may invite exploration of how cultural, structural, and societal norms or constructs influence your experiences. And how those things might also even be at play in our therapeutic relationship.
Playfulness: I think humor and play can be really healing and connecting. I might bring them into sessions sometimes if it feels appropriate.
